WORST Products of 2010

It's been a while since I've posted anything but I get really passionate when it comes to bad products.  So,  despite how many things I have to get done before I go back to school, I knew I had to make a quick post about this.

And when I say quick I'm probably exaggerating.  But bear with me here.  Things get pretty bad pretty quickly lol.

First I'll preface this by saying that all the things I had issues with were drugstore products.  For the most part I buy my serious makeup from more high end dealers.  But sometimes it's hard to resist when you're in Rite Aid looking for one thing and there's all these grand displays about "new and revolutionary" products.  The makeup lover in me is constantly desiring to try new things for the heck of it.

One of the things I was suckered into getting was a Maybelline Eyestudio quad.  I had bought another shade that I absolutely loved and picked up two more thinking I'd have similar results.  Wrong-o.  Quad number 100 "Sunset" is a nightmare.  The shades don't match my skintones, don't match each other, don't match any outfit I could possibly put together, and make me look dead.  All for about six dollars.

The left shade is O.K.  It's kind of a dusty pinkish white.  But the next two colors are awful.  The pink is too orangey to match the grey to it's left, which has a purple hue.  The brown is again too warm for the grey.  Horrendous.  I'm not even going to do the injustice of passing this on to anyone else and spare them the ugly.  Badbadbad.

Next is another Maybelline product.  I'm generally pleased with the Mineral Power line.  The concealer is my absolute favorite concealer ever.  But the "Naturally Perfecting Powder Foundation" in "light" is ghastly.  The color is really orange.  It looks more like a bronzer than anything.  I'm really pale and have yellowish skin and this looks so fake it's not even funny.  The loose powder also gets everywhere.  Partially in having to screw the lid on (which throws excess powder everywhere) and partially in the fact that the sifter's holes are gigantic and let way too much powder through each time you use it.  Which means you eventually build up a gigantic powder pile to attack you the next time you open it.  I actually spilled this and the next powder all over my computer in my attempts to take some pics (that's why I stuck to ones from google lol).

I also ditched the brush almost immediately because there was no where to put it if you took it with you.

I won't go into this one much but I also really didn't like Covergirl's Trueblend Minerals bronzer in 440.  The color and shimmer is great but again, too much of the powder comes out.  It also clumps really badly so application is never even.

The worst sunscreen I have ever tried in my whole life I purchased this year.  Eucerin Everyday Protection w/ SPF 30.  I always use sunscreen something under my makeup.  But this is soooo cakey and white and makes all my makeup look fake and cakey as well.  It stinks too. Even though it's apparently scentless.  The oil content is also really high.  I normally never break out from anything but this pushed my skin from dry to combination after continual use and increased how often I broke out (even though it says it's non-comedogenic).

Lastly is the worst makeup I have ever used ever.  I mean obviously the kiddy stuff we used as children for play were of the lowest quality imaginable.  But this transcends into that arena.  Despite the fact this product is fully intentioned for regular adult makeup buyers.  Covergirl Outlast Shadow Blast.  I know I know.  Alot of people like this.  But the color pay off is awful, the consistency is really oily, and the application is faulty.  When I first applied it the stick broke off.  I didn't even have it rolled up any.  But the base of it in the tube broke from pressure.  The oil content makes the color not apply as evenly (since this is a cream shadow).  Often times I would get these blank spaces on my eyes where there wasn't any pigment, but oil from the stick.  Awful.  It also wears off virtually immediately.  It doesn't dry! It rubs off on everything and smudges like crazy.  With or without primer.  Avoid this please and save yourself the trouble.

(I've tried the 1st and 3rd sticks)

So that's it for my awful products list.  There are things that I haven't necessarily been fond of or would buy again but a list like that is hard to compile lol.  I hope that this will help you make better decisions in 2011 than I did in 2010.

Regardless, have a great 2011 :)

xoxo
